ON PRAYER vs.5-18

ON PRAYER, ALONE WITH GOD

Matthew 6
5.And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6.But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Luke 11
1. And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

Luke 18
1.And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

John 14

12.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

John 15

17.These things I command you, that ye love one another.

ON PRAYER, THE SECRET TO THE ANSWER TO SECRET PRAYER

Matthew 7:7-11

7.Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8.For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9.Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10.Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

THE FATHERS OMNISIENCE

Matthew 6
7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8.Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6
25.Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Matthew 11
25.At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Romans 11
33. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

ON PRAYER, THE MODEL

Matthew 6
9.After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10.Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11.Give us this day our daily bread.

12.And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13.And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Luke 11
2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

ON PRAYER, THE CONDITIONS OF ANSWERED PRAYER

Matthew 6
16. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18. That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 7
7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 17
20.And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Matthew 18
18. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Matthew 21
22. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Mark 9
23.Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mark 11
22. and Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith In God.

Jesus Christ only can teach us, by his word and Spirit, how to pray.

Father , In Jesus Name,I come boldly before the throne of grace.I know and understand that it by the influences of the Holy Spirit we are brought to know God and ourselves, to repent, believe in, and love Christ, and so are made comfortable in this world, and meet for happiness in the next. I ask you by the influences of the Holy Spirit to teach me what it is to pray; Lord, stir up and quicken me to the duty; Lord, direct me what to pray for; teach me what I should say.Amen
